چکیده

In this paper, several resampling schemes to estimate the sampling distributions of median estimators of the inter-event time of a recurrent event are introduced and studied through simulations. Two types of recurrent event models are considered: first is a model where the inter-event times are independent and identically distributed, and second is a model where the inter-event times are associated, with the association arising from a gamma frailty model. The procedures studied are anchored on estimators proposed in Peña, Strawderman and Hollander (2001, Journal of the American Statistical Association 96, 1299-1315) and Wang and Chang (1999, Journal of the American Statistical Association 94, 146-153). The resampling procedures ∗email: [email protected] †email: [email protected]

Multivariate Frailty Modeling in Joint Analyzing of Recurrent Events with Terminal Event and its Application in Medical Data

Background and Objectives: In many medical situations, people can experience recurrent events with a terminal event. If the terminal event is considered a censor in this type of data, the assumption of independence in the analysis of survival data may be violated. This study was conducted to investigate joint modeling of frequent events and a final event (death) in breast cancer patients using ...

Statistical methodology for recurrent events, with application to major trials in heart failure

Composite outcomes are frequently adopted as primary endpoints in clinical trials as they consider fatal and non-fatal consequences of the disease under study and lead to higher event rates. Such analyses of time to first event are suboptimal for a chronic disease such as heart failure, characterised by recurrent hospitalisations, as information on repeats is ignored. We present a comparison of...

CLINICAL STUDY Survival outcomes and safety of carmustine wafers in the treatment of high-grade gliomas: a meta-analysis

Abstract Carmustine wafers (CW; Gliadel wafers) are approved to treat newly-diagnosed high-grade glioma (HGG) and recurrent glioblastoma. Widespread use has been limited for several reasons, including concern that their use may preclude enrollment in subsequent clinical trials due to uncertainty about confounding of results and potential toxicities. This meta-analysis estimated survival followi...

Background: Colorectal carcinoma is considering as a curable disease. Treatment of recurrent cases is hard and sometimes impossible. Evaluation of the rate and affecting factors of recurrence in each hospital would help to decreasing recurrent cases. The aim of this study is evaluation of the rate, clinical and pathologic features, and outcome of recurrent colorectal carcinoma in a referral tea...
